BIOGRAPHY

Elizabeth Farid, JD, Deputy Director

Elizabeth Farid is the National H.I.R.E. Network Deputy Director. She is the coordinator for HIRE’s new multi-year national campaign to remove the federal drug felon ban on Temporary Assistance for Needy Family (cash assistance) and Food Stamp benefits in states and on the federal level. Prior to joining HIRE, Ms. Farid worked on the Vera Institute of Justice’s Program for Prosecution and Racial Justice where she was responsible for managing the development and implementation of internal management systems among the project sites. She is co-author of “Prosecution and Racial Justice: Using Data to Advance Racial Justice in Prosecution”. Before joining Vera, she specialized in complex civil litigation in private practice. And prior to that, she was an assistant district attorney at the Kings County District Attorney's Office. Ms. Farid has a B.A. in political science from the University of North Texas and a J.D. from the University of Maryland.
